7 things meme

How it works for you (if you wish to participate):

Comment to this post, and I will list seven things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random.

Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

1) A TV show you love no matter what.

Ooooh there are so many, but I think one of my all time favorites will always be Highlander.

2) What makes a sucky day better?

Several things (not necessarily in that order - I'm just writing down what comes to my mind):

A good book and a cup of hot chocolate
My boyfriend
My horse Lucky - even when she's got one of her "crazy" days... that horse always makes me smile again when I'm down
Cuddling up in bed (with my boyfriend) and sleeping until tomorrow - tomorrow will always be better!

3) In which TV show would you love to live.

None, actually. I love watching my shows, I love reading Fanfic and most of all I love imagining my own stories in my head (as still no words will come to my mind when I try writing them down) as a means to flee reality sometimes but with all its ups and downs I do love my life as it is and wouldn't want to change it even one little bit!

4) Rain or Snow?

Sun?? *lol* ... now honestly, I can't really choose between the two because it depends on the situation: even though I hate the cold I do love snow on/around Christmas (it's simply not the same without snow) and for skiing/snowboarding. But I also enjoy warm summer rains - love taking walks in the rain and watch the people on the street looking at me like I'm crazy running around in the rain with a huge smile on my face.
But still nothing beats SUN!

5) A character from a book/movie/TV-show you'd love to meet.

Many, but as I am currently reading the Lorien Legacy books it would be Six.
Ask me again in a month or two and it might be someone else entirely!

6) You can either fly to the Moon or the Mars - which one would you choose?

The Moon, but I don't really know why. It's just a feeling that I'd like it better...

7) Favourite animal beside horses

Most definitely: Cats - I simply love them :)

Strange Feelings

Disclaimer: I don't own anything, except for Andrej, who is my own character.
Characters: Methos, OC
Genre: Gen
Rating: PG
Notes: Ok, so this is my first attempt at a fanfic since... oh, it's been so long I can't even remember when I last tried to write one! It's only a little scene from a much larger story which is still stuck in my head with no words forming in my mind to write it down... but maybe this little piece of work is a sign that my long lost muse is finally coming back to me :)

He has been walking through Granger Park for some time now without any real destination.  It had gotten late at Joe's and Mac had offered to give Methos a ride home but he had insisted on walking. He needed some time alone to think about a few things he'd learned tonight and that was easier to do when he was alone.
Maybe the cool night air could even clear his mind somewhat.

After about another half an hour of aimlessly walking around he got to the Angel's Fountain near the center of the park  and immediately regretted not having accepted Mac's offer. He stopped dead in his tracks and looked around carefully. It took him some time to locate the other immortal in the darkness but he eventually saw the figure hiding in the shadows of an old oak tree. He couldn't make out much, only that it must be a man of average height and weight.
Methos slowly drew his sword and cautiously walked closer to where the other man was standing. Something about him was strange. He felt him, of course, like he felt every other immortal, and he was pretty sure that the other one was still very young. If he had to guess, he'd say that guy couldn't have been an immortal for much more than three or four years at best. Maybe even less.
Yet at the same time he felt a very old soul within the man. It was a really strange feeling he got from the stranger, somewhat conflicted and really confusing for Methos as he could not remember ever feeling anything like this in another immortal.

"Who are you?" he called out to the stranger.
"I'm Andrej Ozab," the other said warily, holding his sword protectively in front of him.
Methos decided to be on the safe side and not give away his true identity. After all he didn't know his opponent and even that young it could very well be someone who'd heard about the myth of the oldest immortal and now wanted his head.
"Adam Pierson's the name and I'm not looking for a fight ... unless you insist."
"Then we shall have no problem," the other said with a slight hint of relief in his voice and lowered his sword.

He gave a curt nod to the other in way of a greeting, lowered his own sword and turned to leave but suddenly stopped and looked back again.

Not only was this guy somewhat strange and confusing, but something about Andrej was familiar to Methos and he felt like it was something really important, he just couldn't quite put his finger on what exactly that was. It almost felt like he's met him before... somewhere... sometime...

Methos shook his head and laughed at his own toughtlessness. Of course he could always ask Joe if he could find out something about this Andrej Ozab in the watcher database. Surely a picture and a little background story would help his memory.

Satisfied with the decision to call Joe and happy that this little interlude got his mind off the other things that occupied it lately he finally went home.

Five questions about [insert character]!

Ok, I have to admit I don't really expect anyone to answer this, but maybe I'm going to be surprised???

Five questions about [insert character]!
Snurched from saphirablue who's got this from [info]somehowunbroken

Name a character from one of the following fandoms and I'll give you:

(a) Three facts about them from my personal fanon.
(b) A reason he/she sucks.
(c) A reason he/she is amazing.
(d) Five things that I'd like to see happen to them.
(e) Five people that I can't ship that character with and why.

Current Fandoms: True Blood (the series AND the books (especially the books ;) ), Blood Ties, Forever Knight (yea, I know that's oooold), SGU, Criminal Minds, Fringe, Eureka, Twilight
Past Fandoms (my knowledge of the characters might not be too good with some of those fandoms): SG1, Deep Space 9, Voyager, Highlander, Highlander - The Raven, Babylon 5, Buffy - The Vampire Slayer, Angel

... and another one!

I must be damned!! I just found the next show that I like and (surprise, surprise!) that got cancelled way too soon!!! :( Moonlight! ... Although it sometimes reminds me very much of FK, I really like this show! :) ... I just don't like that they cancelled it, but that's typically my so called "luck".

Oh, and I finally dared to finish the "Blood" books series about a week ago (they're really great stuff to read!!) and started a new book "The Forever War". So far, I like this one really much (even though it is completely different from what I read before).

As I've got loooots of time this week (even at work because I'm "babysitting" a new colleague and he's doing all the work) I might just finish my first story of the huuuuuge plotbunny that isn't going away. Wish me lucky because, even if I finish them in my head, I hardly ever finish a story I write down. So, please, please, please let me finish this one so that my plotbunny will shrink a little bit. :)

Ok, and now I'll start counting the minutes until I can go home: 85 .......................................................................................

all alone :(

I'm home alone this weekend and am already bored! I think I'm gonna rewatch some Blood Ties DVDs later...

But for now...

One question: just how hard can it be to find a decent, english speaking (non austrian!), online radio station?? Decent meaning: not more commercials than on normal radio stations, not more or even less talking than on normal radio stations!! Decent meaning: I want music!!! (not some author talking about their latest book, a politician talking about politics, or whatever else!) ... Any suggestions??

Oh yea, something else: I've finally got a new computer (or, well, at least a new inner life for my old PC which makes it an all new one anyway) and I really loooove it!!! It's finally working again :) Doesn't take "hours" to start up, start Firefox or any other program etc. :)

I also got Windows 7 for this PC and so far I really like it. I was a little disappointed  when  I first got it with my netbook about a month ago because they only installed the starter version on the netbook and you can't really do much with that (you can't even change the desktop background), but I'm really surprised about the full version :) (ok, it cost a lot more, too, but it's really worth the money so far :) ).

I'm only a little bit annoyed with my email program (Thunderbird portable) ... it's still not really working the way it should (can't send any email adresses, gets stuck when I try to add a new email account ...). Hope that I'll be able to fix this soon!

But for now, I think I'm off, re-installing NFS World and Vampires - The Masquerade ... and then, hopefully, I won't be so bored anymore! :)

damn my "luck"

I just found the next TV series that has been cancelled after only one season: FlashForward ... Why is it that so many shows I like get cancelled so soon?? That's just not fair!

that's just my "luck" ...

... you can hear the sarcasm, can't you?

Well, some time yesterday evening I discovered that I lost one of my earrings ... searched the whole condo but couldn't find it!  (and of course they aren't just any earrings, but some of my favorites) And worst about all of this is, that I haven't got a clue where I possibly lost them! They could be anywhere: the house in Lower Austria, the stables, the car, the condo ... just anywhere! Because the last time I remember having them is some time in the early afternoon.... :(

That's just so typically my luck ... or lack thereof!

But there's some good things, too!

We're almost finished unpacking our stuff!!! Only 5 boxes left! :)

The saddler was here this weekend to recheck the fit of the new saddles again and there are only a few minor changes to be made :) hopefully we'll get the saddles back this week! (yea, he had to take them with him :( ).

Phew, where to start? We had quite a week(end)! ... Moved from our old flat to the condo in the 3rd district. I'm really fed up of all that moving boxes standing around, packing and unpacking things and sorting out the stuff Patrick's parents left behind when moving to the house in Lower Austria. And to top it all off I'm totally spent - haven't slept more than 3 or 4 hours a night for the last two weeks and only got 2 1/2 hrs sleep last night! Why? Because there's too much to do and simply not enough time :(

Whatever, complaining about it won't help much anyway!

It's a surprise that I still have some time left for reading, but I do :) ... And now that the series I've been reading is reaching its end, I'm asking myself what I could read next? It's really a pity Tany Huff ended the Blood Books after just 5 books and a few short stories! And it doesn't exactly help that the TV-series they made of it ended after only 2 very short seasons with a cliffhanger and had a sometimes completely different storyline. I'd really love to see how the story continues (books or TV alike), esp. with Vicki and Henry, but I'm afraid I'll have to leave that to my imagination (and I've already got too much of that! There are sooo many plotbunnies waiting to be written and thanks to those books their number is steadily increasing.... Anyone care to adopt one? ;)

Money isn't everything!

Would you rather work at a job that you enjoy but pays little or work at a miserable job that pays a lot?

Why would you ever want to work at a miserable job?? Just for the money?
As long as there are other (even less paying) options available, I'd never do that. Why should I? We're spending most of our time at work. I think that's reason enough for me to have a job I enjoy.

Granted, my current job istn't really perfect either: My pay is at a minimum compared with others doing the same job at another company, I've got horrible shifts, have almost no free time and the company and superiors I don't even want to begin talking about. But the most important thing: the work itself is fun and I still enjoy it very much (otherwise I wouldn't be here anymore) AND my colleagues are great too.

Honestly, I don't think there's a really perfect job anywhere. There'll always be things you don't like and complain about, but as long as you can live with those things it's ok.

For me there can't ever be a perfect job, because the perfect thing for me would be enough money on my bank account so I can live a decent live off the interest and maybe have a parttime job just for fun... or a world without money (or any equivalent).

Ok, I just realized I got a little bit off topic here, but I thought I have to explain my statement a little further. ... Thanks for reading anyway :)
