Strange Feelings

Disclaimer: I don't own anything, except for Andrej, who is my own character.
Characters: Methos, OC
Genre: Gen
Rating: PG
Notes: Ok, so this is my first attempt at a fanfic since... oh, it's been so long I can't even remember when I last tried to write one! It's only a little scene from a much larger story which is still stuck in my head with no words forming in my mind to write it down... but maybe this little piece of work is a sign that my long lost muse is finally coming back to me :)

He has been walking through Granger Park for some time now without any real destination.  It had gotten late at Joe's and Mac had offered to give Methos a ride home but he had insisted on walking. He needed some time alone to think about a few things he'd learned tonight and that was easier to do when he was alone.
Maybe the cool night air could even clear his mind somewhat.

After about another half an hour of aimlessly walking around he got to the Angel's Fountain near the center of the park  and immediately regretted not having accepted Mac's offer. He stopped dead in his tracks and looked around carefully. It took him some time to locate the other immortal in the darkness but he eventually saw the figure hiding in the shadows of an old oak tree. He couldn't make out much, only that it must be a man of average height and weight.
Methos slowly drew his sword and cautiously walked closer to where the other man was standing. Something about him was strange. He felt him, of course, like he felt every other immortal, and he was pretty sure that the other one was still very young. If he had to guess, he'd say that guy couldn't have been an immortal for much more than three or four years at best. Maybe even less.
Yet at the same time he felt a very old soul within the man. It was a really strange feeling he got from the stranger, somewhat conflicted and really confusing for Methos as he could not remember ever feeling anything like this in another immortal.

"Who are you?" he called out to the stranger.
"I'm Andrej Ozab," the other said warily, holding his sword protectively in front of him.
Methos decided to be on the safe side and not give away his true identity. After all he didn't know his opponent and even that young it could very well be someone who'd heard about the myth of the oldest immortal and now wanted his head.
"Adam Pierson's the name and I'm not looking for a fight ... unless you insist."
"Then we shall have no problem," the other said with a slight hint of relief in his voice and lowered his sword.

He gave a curt nod to the other in way of a greeting, lowered his own sword and turned to leave but suddenly stopped and looked back again.

Not only was this guy somewhat strange and confusing, but something about Andrej was familiar to Methos and he felt like it was something really important, he just couldn't quite put his finger on what exactly that was. It almost felt like he's met him before... somewhere... sometime...

Methos shook his head and laughed at his own toughtlessness. Of course he could always ask Joe if he could find out something about this Andrej Ozab in the watcher database. Surely a picture and a little background story would help his memory.

Satisfied with the decision to call Joe and happy that this little interlude got his mind off the other things that occupied it lately he finally went home.
